Welcome
to the website for the 2012 annual conference of the Consortium of
Liberal Arts Colleges. CLAC brings together from across the United
States information technology professionals dedicated to advancing the
values of a liberal arts education.
The
theme of the 2012 CLAC conference, Fermenting Grape Ideas: Transforming
Learning in the Liberal Arts, plays off of the robust viticultural
influence in the Walla Walla Valley where Whitman College is located.
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines the word ferment as a being in a
state of agitation or intense activity. While that definition might
conjure up negative connotations, fermentation as a process is about a
controlled transformation of an organic compound. In that spirit, we,
at Whitman College, are excited to host this years conference and get
together with our colleagues in an environment where we can work
together to ferment great ideas that can lead to a transformation of
learning.
